The real breach of the third commandment

Stupid American 'Christians'I saw this news article and remembered again that this is an example of the real meaning of the “Do not take the Lord’s name in vain” commandment.

It’s not about hitting your thumb and saying “Oh Christ”.

It’s more about saying “God told me to blow up Iraq” or “God think’s it’s good that you’re dead” (because you’re fighting in the army of a country in which some people are allowed to live openly gay lives. I mean, talk about a spurious connection!).

Stupid, stupid, stupid so-called Christians [Edit: OK so perhaps that’s too strong. Maybe they’re not so much “stupid” as deluded and hugely insensitive in their protests and the methods of communicating their opinion about their country]. It annoys me that they’re called Christians and it annoys me that they’re called Baptists (even though they aren’t connected to any baptist organisations!) [Edit: so what really annoys me is that other people will see their actions and potentialy transfer a wrong understanding of Christianity and the baptist tradition on to me]

Bah

I also think the idea of bankrupting the church is a good one! Of course it won’t change the heart of the leader or it’s congregation.
