Read the article if you can be bothered but near the bottom I came across this and laughed out loud.
Goats had suffered brain damage and other “hideous effects”, said the trust’s Wendy Higgins. “It is regrettable but inevitable that warfare causes human suffering but it is totally unethical that we should add to this the unnecessary suffering of innocent animals,” she added.
I re-read it twice and I still only get the impression that Higgins’ statements imply a greater value on the life of ‘innocent animals’ than human suffering. That’s amazing (but in a bad way)!
