Bristol 10k Race: my run
Well – I did it! Race run. Sponsorship target reached.
My Official time was 1 hour 4 minutes and 16 seconds. Official Photography here!
Thank you to everyone that supported me! I think as a “Love Running” we’ve nearly raised £100,000. So if you haven’t donated yet, there’s still a great target to smash for the group. Thanks. (I’m going to give the £30 cash matching money to friends who haven’t reached their targets yet!)
I reached my sponsorship target the day before the race, then at 9 o’clock in the evening my email alerted me to a £2 donation that pushed me over the target – and a reminder of a promise that I had entirely forgotten I had made. I had said that if I beat the target, I’d run in an outrageous outfit. I was tempted to suggest that the look of pain on my face ought to be outrageous enough – but instead I raided Sophie’s dressing up box!
I had family too support which was awesome, as was the random support from the crowd – it was really generous of people to give their time to cheering the race and shouting support for random strangers, I felt hugely privileged.
Andrea & the children got a snap at the start:
And a snap near the Finish:
And I took the obligatory space blanket shot just after!
You can see the track of my race over at RunKeeper.
I was really worried that the pain in my legs (I’d had ALL week) would stop me from completing the race – painkillers got me down to the warm up with a little pain still and quite a lot of worry, but after a pray with my friends the pain disappeared in the first half a kilometre! Amazing. Thanks God.
If you had meant to sponsor me and never got round to it – there’s still time to help me crack the £100,000 Love Running target, please:
